
Chris Teal Named SoCon Freshman of the Week

STATESBORO, Ga. ? Chris Teal (Cairo/Cairo) made it three straight weeks that a Georgia Southern player was named Southern Conference ?Freshman of the Week'. The league office announced the award Monday morning (Oct. 1).
The true-freshman running back joins teammates Zeke Rozier (Sept. 17) and E.J. Webb (Sept. 24) in receiving the honor in consecutive weeks.
Teal rushed for 64 yards on 20 carries and recorded his first collegiate touchdown in the 50-21 win over Western Carolina last Saturday. Teal also caught two passes for 38 yards and threw a key downfield block that opened the way for Jayson Foster to score the Eagles first touchdown of the game.
Teal accounted for 102 of his season's 145 all-purpose yards against Western.
The Eagles conclude their three-game homestand this Saturday (Oct. 6) against South Dakota State. Kickoff for the Family Weekend game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
