Sam Blancato enters his first season as an assistant coach, overseeing catchers and outfielders while assisting with recruiting efforts after spending two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Eagles.
A former standout player at Georgia Southern, Blancato wrapped up his playing career as a .290 career hitter with a .477 slugging percentage and a .402 on-base percentage. During his redshirt senior season in 2024, he started every game for the Eagles, leading the team with 50 RBI while recording career highs in doubles (13), home runs (nine), walks (38), and stolen bases (12).
A versatile defender, Blancato saw time at first base and all three outfield positions throughout his career. He was named to the 2022 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament Team and NCAA Statesboro Regional All-Tournament Team, earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in 2023, and was a two-time member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll.
