Kaitlyn Michener

Kaitlyn Michener joined Georgia Southern Athletics in 2025 as the Football Sports Nutritionist, bringing a comprehensive background in performance nutrition, clinical dietetics, and athlete-centered care. She is a Registered Dietitian and holds a Master of Science in Food and Nutrition from Ohio University, where she also completed a combined Dietetic Internship with a focus on sports performance in 2024. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Science from Cleveland State University in 2019.

Prior to joining Georgia Southern, Michener served as a Football Sports Nutrition Fellow at Texas Christian University, where she managed meal planning, nutrition education, hydration strategies, and individualized fueling plans for the football program. Her approach integrates performance goals with science-backed nutritional strategies, including the use of technologies like Smartabase and Teamworks for athlete monitoring.

Michener also spent four years with Ohio University Athletics, supporting more than 400 student-athletes across multiple sports. She led initiatives like “Taste Tuesday,” delivered team nutrition talks, developed customized nutrition handbooks, and collaborated with strength and medical staff to optimize performance and recovery.

Her clinical experience includes roles at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital and the WVU Cancer Center, where she provided medical nutrition therapy across a broad patient population. Michener is also ServSafe Manager certified and brings leadership experience from her time as a student manager and trainer at Ohio University’s WellWorks program.
