Joe Chapman joined the Georgia Southern Athletic Foundation in April of 2023 as Director of Development – Major Gifts and was promoted to assistant AD in March of 2025. He comes to Statesboro from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he served as Development Associate for Membership at The Rams Club since September 2021.
While at The Rams Club, Chapman oversaw the growth and operations of its membership programs. These programs saw a 50% membership growth during his time in Chapel Hill, leading to an increase in annual revenue, premium annual giving members and major gift prospects for The Rams Club. Additionally, Chapman assisted in daily annual fund operations for the organization.
Before arriving at The Rams Club, he was an MBA/MSA Dual-Program Recruiting Graduate Assistant & MSA Program Director Graduate Assistant at Ohio University. His efforts led to a 100% increase in applicants to the program from 2021 to 2022. Chapman also worked as a Coaches Recruiting Assistant at Clemson for the football program from 2016-2019 and was a part of the recruiting staff during their 2016 and 2018 national championship seasons.
A native of Smyrna, Georgia, Chapman received his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in sports communication from Clemson University in 2018. He earned his Master’s of Business Administration in 2020 & his Master’s of Sports Administration in 2021 from Ohio University.
