Sterling Burd joins the coaching staff as an assistant coach after a successful collegiate swimming career with the Eagles.
During the 2025-26 season, she competed in a variety of freestyle and butterfly events and multiple relays, earning five individual event victories. She set the program record in the 200 fly twice, first with a 2:02.37 at the ASUN Championships before lowering her mark to 2:02.30 at the CSCAA National Invitational. She also helped set the school record in the 800 free relay (7:24.60) and posted the fourth-fastest 100 fly time in program history (55.46). A 2026 Academic All-ASUN and CSC Academic All-District selection, she brings both competitive experience and academic success to the Eagles' coaching staff.
Prior to Georgia Southern, Burd competed at South Carolina from 2022-24, where she earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors and expanded her events to include distance freestyle. A standout prep swimmer at Hilton Head Preparatory School, she was a four-time first-team All-State selection and a four-time state champion in the 200 and 500 freestyle.
