Matt Wise

Matt Wise volunteers his time as the leader of character development for the Georgia Southern football program. He is responsible for helping student-athletes develop character fundamentals along with leadership development that will serve and guide them throughout and following their playing careers.

A former Georgia Southern student-athlete, Wise played from 2004-2007 for the Eagle football squad.

After a career ending injury in 2007, Wise served as a student coach in 2008 and graduated with a degree in exercise science.

Since graduation, Wise has spent time serving athletes and coaches at Georgia Southern through the platform of sports ministry. He is currently the campus director for Athletes In Action, a sports ministry of Cru. In 2016, Wise helped lead Georgia Southern Athletes on a service trip to Nicaragua that won the Sun Belt Community Impact Award for the year. He brings a servant attitude and depth of passion into his work every day with student-athletes, coaches and leaders.  

A native of Hazlehurst, Georgia, Wise and his wife, Colleen, who played soccer from 2004-2007 for Georgia Southern, live in Statesboro. They have four girls, Hope, Kennedy, Berkley and Camryn.
