Matt Brennan

Matt Brennan is in his third season at Georgia Southern University and his second in the role of Director of Player Personnel. His first year was spent serving in a special teams and defensive quality control role.

In 2016, he was the main assistant for Special Teams Coordinator Chad Lunsford who was named a Broyles Award nominee, given to the nation’s top assistant coach, as the Eagles blocked seven kicks and featured a Lou Groza Award finalist in Younghoe Koo.

Prior to coming to Georgia Southern, Brennan was a high school coach in the state of Georgia for 11 years, serving all 11 at Woodward Academy in College Park, Georgia. He served as defensive line coach, co-special teams coordinator and co-recruiting coordinator while there. His teams qualified for the state playoffs in every single year and advanced past the first round in every year but one while he was there, winning two region championships and making two Group AAAA state semifinal appearances in 2014 and 2015.

While at Woodward, Brennan had 16 of his defensive lineman go on to play college football and helped over 40 total players from Woodward go on to play college football during his time there. Three of his former players - Juwan Thompson (Denver Broncos), Henry Anderson (Indianapolis Colts) and Andrew Adams (New York Giants) - went on to play in the NFL and are currently on active rosters.

Originally from Tucker, Georgia, Brennan was a three-year letter winner at Woodward Academy as a student-athlete and he received his degree from Troy University in sports management.
