Jakob Cooper joined the Eagle coaching staff in 2019 as a student assistant after retiring from the sport for medical reasons. Cooper from Lilburn, Georgia, started the first four games of the 2019 season at center before suffering a concussion, which led to his retirement.
In 2018, he played in 12 games, starting 11 and was on the field for 673 snaps (628 offensive, 45 special teams). He made the Dean’s List in the fall for posting above a 3.5 GPA and then made the Honor Roll in the spring for posting above a 3.0 GPA. Cooper was named to the 2018-19 Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll for maintaining a 3.00-3.49 GPA.
