Broden Beorlegui Named Sun Belt Men's Offensive Player of the Week

STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern first-year forward Broden Beorlegui has been named Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals in the Eagles 3-1 win over No. 15 Old Dominion on Sunday night.
This is the first career Player of the Week award for Beorlegui, who leads the Sun Belt with eight goals this season.
Beorlegui found the back of the net in the 68th minute on a penalty kick to give the Eagles a 2-1 advantage. In the 84th minute, Beorlegui found himself with a breakaway opportunity, dribbling past two defenders before placing his shot into the bottom-right corner of the net to secure his second goal of the match.
The freshman's eight goals rank first among all first-year players nationally and lead the Sun Belt Conference. Beorlegui has also recorded four game-winning goals this season, first in the nation.
"Proud of Broden! He's been a game-winner on more than one occasion this season, and it's nice for him to gain this recognition," Georgia Southern Head Coach Lee Squires said. "I know he'll be hungry for more goals against Georgia State this week."
