
Eagles Sweep Sun Belt Weekly Men's Tennis Awards

Davis Taylor earns SBC Player of the Week honors, while Taylor and Gregoire Delattre named SBC Doubles Team of the Week
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern swept the Sun Belt Conference men's tennis weekly awards, announced on Wednesday. Redshirt sophomore Davis Taylor was named the SBC Player of the Week, while Taylor and freshman Gregoire Delattre was named the SBC Doubles Team of the Week.
Taylor went 2-0 in singles action on the week after stepping up a spot in the lineup to No. 4 singles. The Brookhaven, Ga., native defeated North Florida's Kyle Piqueras, 7-5, 6-3, in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Ospreys - the first win for Georgia Southern against UNF in Jacksonville since 1988. He then followed that up with a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win over James Lorenzetti of Stetson on Sunday.
This is the first weekly honor for the Eagles this season and the first honor for Taylor.
In doubles, Taylor and Delattre went 2-0 at the top spot in the weekend action in Florida. The pair defeated UNF's Marques and Scott, 6-4, to clinch the doubles point over the Ospreys on Saturday. They then won a 7-6 decision over Stetson's duo of Mandla and Verlaguet on Sunday to also clinch the doubles point against the Hatters.
This is the first weekly doubles honor for the Eagles this season.
Georgia Southern will be next in action on Friday, hosting UAB in a 1 p.m. non-conference contest at the Wallis Tennis Center.
