Eagles Fall at USC in Non-Conference Action

Team returns home for game against Jax State

LOS ANGELES - Georgia Southern struck first, but in the end, the USC Trojans were too much in handing the Eagles a 59-20 defeat Saturday at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum in non-conference football action.

The Eagles forced a fumble on the first drive of the game when Prince Green III jarred the ball loose and Caleb Moore pounced on it. Three plays later, freshman Weston Bryan found Camden Brown for a 32-yard touchdown pass to put the Eagles up 6-0.

After the Trojans scored three touchdowns, the Eagles (0-2) put together a seven-play, 75-yard scoring drive in the second quarter that was capped by JC French IV finding Brown for the 24-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-13. USC would add 24 straight points before French IV hit Dalen Cobb for a 13-yard touchdown pass late in the third quarter to make it 45-20.

French IV threw for 179 yards and two scores while Brown had three catches for 75 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Brandon Tyson led the defense with 11 stops.

Up Next: home vs. Jax State (1-1), Saturday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m.
