Seedorff's Second-Minute Goal Enough to Topple Dukes, 1-0
10/26/2025 9:32:00 PM | Men's Soccer
Harrisonburg, Va. --- The Georgia Southern men's soccer team (11-3-1, 4-3 Sun Belt) took down James Madison (1-10-3, 0-6-1 Sun Belt) by just a 1-0 margin on Sunday night (October 26th).
The action started as in just the second minute, a cross into the box from Mitch Picksley would be poked out by the Dukes' keeper, but fortunately for the Eagles, it would be a punch out right off the body of Emil Seedorff that went into the back of the net. With Seedorff being in the right place at the right time, it would be his fourth goal of the season (second-most on the team), including scoring the last two goals for the Eagles that goes back to the lone goal scored against Kentucky.
The rest of the half would be defined by Nat Martinez in goal. All three saves for the senior keeper on the night would come in the opening 45 minutes, including crucial ones in both the 14th and 41st minutes to keep James Madison off the board. The second half was where the rest of the Eagles' defense shone through as they did not allow a single shot from the Dukes in the closing 45. It would be the first time all season that the Eagles would not allow a shot off in a half.
The Eagles held a 10-6 advantage in shots, while all three shots on goal for JMU came in the first half. Although 26 combined fouls were called, the Eagles only took three corner kicks to the Dukes' four. Both Seedorff and Ricky Louis each had three shots on the night as the chances were presented throughout the contest.
With the win, the Eagles have secured a spot in the Sun Belt Tournament with two matches remaining in the regular season while also claiming sole possession of the number four seed in the conference table after the night's results.
Next, the Eagles return home for their final regular season match at Bo Pitts Field as the Eagles face South Carolina on Halloween. Kickoff for Senior Night on Friday (October 31st) is set for 7 PM against the Gamecocks.
