STATESBORO– Missing its first 11 shots, Georgia Southern men's basketball (8-7, 1-2 SBC) let South Alabama (11-4, 3-0) run away with the game, not making it any closer than 20 points after the first half concluded and falling 76-47 on Saturday.

The Eagles went until the 11:59 mark without a field goal and were down 12-0 before Nakavieon White hit a three for the first one of the game. Things did not change much after that, as the visitors' 11-0 run made the deficit 23-3 at 9:24.

GS struggled to find the hoop in the first half, recording eight field goals and 18 points.

While the second half started with Micah Smith drawing contact for an and-one, 18 points was the lowest the deficit was for the remainder of the game. The Jaguars proceeded to stretch the lead to as much as 34 points before the final buzzer.

The Eagles lost by a score of 76-47, setting a season-low in field goals (16) and tying their season-low in points scored.

Braylhan Thomas was the lone Eagle in double figures, scoring a career-high 11, his second straight game with double-digit points. Smith (9) and Eren Banks (8) were both close.

Bradley Douglas paced the team with a career-high tying eight rebounds, and Dontae Horne led GS with four assists.

GS will embark on a four-game road trip coming up, looking to put this matchup behind them at Georgia State on Wednesday.
