Martin Named Sun Belt Offensive Weekly Winner

Zachary Martin is the latest winner of the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week award, the league announced Tuesday.
Statesboro, Ga. --- Zachary Martin is the latest winner of the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week award, the league announced Tuesday.
In the Eagles' last contest against Coastal Carolina, Martin recorded a brace that would eventually kickstart the offense into a 5-0 routing of the Chanticleers. He helped his team to put up their largest victory in nine years and most goals in a conference match since 2003. He also ignited the team's offense to produce 18 total points on the match, which is the most since 2007 and tied for ninth-most in program history.
Although only playing in two prior matches so far this season and 26 total minutes, Martin burst onto the scene with two goals on four shots in his 33 minutes of action last Friday night. For Martin, it was his first goals of the season and matched his career goal total in just one match, putting him at now four goals in his Georgia Southern career. Of course, it is also Martin's first conference honor in his career.
Martin is also the fourth Eagle so far this season to garner Player of the Week honors, and is the most players since 2017 to receive it.
Martin and the Eagles next take on top-10 ranked west Virginia on Friday, October 11th, at 7 PM on Bo Pitts Field.
