NEW ORLEANS - Georgia Southern redshirt senior linebacker Marques Watson-Trent was named the Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his performance Saturday against Marshall. It marks the second career honor for the Pittsburgh native, who now has 13 games with 10 or more tackles for his career.

Offensive Player of the Week - Jordan McCloud, Texas State
Went 24-for-29 passing for 320 yards and four TDs with no INTs in TXST's win over Arkansas State… Added five rushes for 29 yards and a TD… Fifth game with 3+ passing TDs in 2024… Has accounted for 4+ TDs in 4 games this season… Third 300-yard game in 2024… Connected with three different receivers for TDs for the second straight game… Helped TXST to 591 yards of total offense, highest in 2024.

Defensive Player of the Week - Marques Watson-Trent, Georgia Southern
Marques Watson-Trent led a huge fourth quarter comeback as Georgia Southern rallied to beat Marshall, 24-23. Trailing 23-3 in the fourth quarter, Watson-Trent forced two fumbles that led to the last two touchdowns and secured the comeback victory. He now has four forced fumbles on the season, which leads all of the FBS. The senior had 10 total tackles, including 1.5 for loss, to go along with the two forced fumbles. With 10 tackles, Watson-Trent now has 300 tackles for his career, moving him into fifth place all-time at Georgia Southern.

Special Teams Player of the Week - Kenneth Almendares, Louisiana
The Sun Belt Conference leader in points scored (58) booted a pair of field goals and converted on all four PAT attempts as he moved past former Ragin' Cajuns and NFL great Brian Mitchell into fourth place on the school's all-time scoring list in Louisiana's 34-24 win over Appalachian State on Saturday … his career-long 53-yard field goal in the third quarter - ironically his 53rd career field goal - tied him with Stevie Artigue (2015-19) for the school record for most field goals made … opened the night with a 32-yard field goal on Louisiana's opening drive, tying him with Mitchell (1986-89) with 286 points … moved into sole possession of fourth place with his first PAT attempt in the second quarter and finished the night with 293 points - one shy of Tyrell Fenroy (2005-08) for third … had his string of 11 consecutive field goals made snapped when his 60-yard attempt at the end of the first half sailed just left of the goal post … moved into a tie for 20th among FBS players (tied for seventh among FBS kickers) in scoring while improving to 22-for-22 in PATs and 12-for-13 (.923) in field goals on the season.
