STATESBORO - The Anthony P. Tippins Family Training Facility was officially dedicated Friday evening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as part of the opening weekend of Georgia Southern Football. The new facility will be used by all 17 Eagle athletic programs as well as a source of revenue with game-day tailgating opportunities.
With emcee Danny Reed hosting the ceremony, director of Athletics Jared Benko and University President Dr. Kyle Marrero kicked off the ceremony by giving a little history on the project and how it came to fruition. Other speakers during the ceremony included Tippins, Foundation President Bryan Burke, head baseball coach Rodney Hennon, football captain Marques Watson-Trent and head football coach Clay Helton.
After a pair of framed photos were presented to Tippins, the large contingent of fans, donors, coaches and staff members made their way across the turf to officially cut the ribbon.
