STATESBORO - This summer, GSEagles.com is getting to know each of the 10 members of the 2023-24 Georgia Southern men's gof team. Finally, we finish with freshman Brycen Jones, who has played Pinehurst #2 and Is allergic to cats. Let's get to know Brycen.

Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I grew up an Eagle fan since both of my parents graduated from Georgia Southern. The people there and the support for the program is amazing which leads to a great atmosphere for college on and off the course. 

What is your goal for this summer?
My goal for the summer is to become more consistent off the tee and to continue improving in order to be ready for college golf in the fall. 

What's your favorite club in your bag?
60 Degree

How long have you been playing golf and how did you get into the game?
I have been playing since I can remember but I started focusing on it more in 7th grade. My dad got me into the game in the backyard. 

If you hadn't come to college to play golf, what sport would you have tried to play collegiately?
Soccer

What is the best score you've ever shot? When and where?
62 at Glen Arven at the beginning of the summer.

What course that you've played is your favorite course?
Pinehurst #2 was amazing to play, especially knowing all the history the course has.

What's your favorite of the four majors?
The Masters

How many states have you been to?
Of those you haven't been to, which one do you want to visit the most? I have visited 13 states and Montana would be the state I would want to visit. 

Which person has made the biggest impact on you in your career? How so?
My dad has had the biggest impact since he got me into the game and has helped me in many different aspects along the way.

Are you more of a dog or cat person?
Definitely dogs since I am allergic to cats.

The 2023-24 Georgia Southern golf schedule was announced earlier this month and can be found here. The Eagles return eight players from last year's squad and welcome two newcomers to the team.
