STATESBORO - This summer, GSEagles.com is getting to know each of the 10 members of the 2023-24 Georgia Southern men's gof team. Up next is senior Hayden Carner, who has three yellow labs and has a passion for cars. Let's get to know Hayden.

Why did you choose Georgia Southern?
I chose Georgia Southern for many reasons. I chose Georgia Southern because of the coaches and team. When I came on my visit I felt a sense of family that the team had built and that's something I wanted to be a part of. I wanted to be part of something that I could feel was bigger than myself. From the moment I stepped foot in Statesboro I felt like I was home and that is in large part due to Coach staff and the team.

What's your favorite club in your bag?
Driver

How long have you been playing golf and how did you get into the game?
I have been playing golf for 10 years. I got into golf when a good family friend took me out to the golf course to hit on the driver range when I was in 5th grade and I fell in love with the sport.

What course that you've played is your favorite?
Sage Valley

What course is your dream course to play?
Augusta National

What's your favorite of the four majors?
Masters

Do you have any pre-round rituals or superstitions?
Before each round, I have to mark two golf balls with a line and cross and say a prayer on the first tee.

If you had to watch one movie on repeat, what would it be?
I would watch the movie, Ford V Ferrari. Growing up my dad would always work on cars and race them. Through this, I have developed a passion for cars, making Ford V Ferrari one of my all-time favorite movies.

Which person has made the biggest impact on you in your career? How so?
The person who has made the biggest impact on my career would be my swing coach Chip Thomas. Without Chip, I would not be half the golfer that I am today. He pushes me every day to become better and is always there for me. Chip was one of the 1st people that truly saw me for me and who I could become. He taught me more about golf and what makes me click on the golf course more than I thought was possible. Without Chip, I would not be here.

Are you more of a dog or cat person?
A dog person. I have three yellow English labs: Memphis, Maverick, and Marley. I currently Use a Custom Ball Marker with my dog, Memphis, engraved on it.

The 2023-24 Georgia Southern golf schedule will be announced later this summer. The Eagles return eight players from last year's squad and welcome two newcomers to the team.
