STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team is set to host Stetson and South Carolina State for a pair of matches on Sunday, Feb, 19, and Monday, Feb. 20. The matches will begin at 10 AM and 2 PM, respectively.
STETSON OUTLOOK: The Hatters have opened the season with a 7-2 record after taking down squads such as Georgia State, College of Charelston, and The Citadel. The Hatters are led by Haris Eminefendic, who holds a perfect 3-0 record in singles matches and is 2-0 in doubles matches.
STETSON SERIES: The Hatters hold the advantage over the Eagles, 9-4, in the overall series. The Eagles have fallen the previous four times the two squads have met, most recently falling to the Hatters in DeLand, Florida, last season, 1-6.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE OUTLOOK: The Bulldogs have started the season with a 2-4 record, after taking victories against The Citadel and Benedict College, while falling to The Citadel, Coastal Carolina, Wake Forst, and William & Mary. The Bulldogs are led by Luka Stefanovic, who is a perfect 3-0 in singles matched this season.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE SERIES: The Eagles lead the overall series against the Bulldogs, 7-5, and have won the previous six matches between the two programs. The last time the Bulldogs won was in 2014. The two squads met last season, where the Eagles won in Statesboro, 6-1.
UP NEXT
The Eagles will go on the road to take on a pair of Carolina-based schools, first with former SoCon rival Furman on Saturday, Feb. 25, followed by Gardner-Webb on Sunday, Feb. 26. Both matches are set for 1 p.m. on their respective days.
