Ben Carr and
Mason Williams have been named PING All-Region by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced today.
Players across six regions - Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West - earned all-region honors for 2022 and advance to the ballot for PING All-America plaudits.
Named first-team All-Sun Belt for second straight season, Carr entered the week leading the Sun Belt in scoring average (70.21) and ranked 49th by Golfstat. He has placed in the top-8 in nine of 11 events he has played in this season, including five top-5s and a victory at the Bank of Tennessee Collegiate. Carr has shot par or better in 25 rounds, including 16 in the 60s.
Williams was named first-team All-Sun Belt and entered the week ranked 48th nationally by Golfstat. He has six top-10s in eight events to his credit this season with a win in the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate. Williams has shot par or better in 15Â of 23 rounds and entered the week ranked third in the Sun Belt in scoring average (71.08).
The Eagles are competing in the third round of the NCAA Championships today at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The top-15 teams and nine individuals not on those teams after today's third round advance to a fourth round Monday. The individual medalist will be determined after Monday's fourth round, and the top eight teams advance to match play Tuesday.
Georgia Southern is paired with Ohio State and Liberty and will tee off the first hole at 3:15 p.m. ET (12:15 p.m. local).
