Volleyball Announces 2022 Schedule

The Eagles are scheduled to play 14 matches in Hanner Fieldhouse.

STATESBORO – Fourteen home matches, including two early-season tournaments and eight Sun Belt contests, highlight the 2022 Georgia Southern volleyball schedule, announced today by head coach Chad Willis.

"We're all excited for what's ahead this fall and looking forward to opening up preseason camp on August 4th," said Willis. "Our group really committed themselves and worked hard this offseason, and they're determined to continue that work into the summer. We're confident this schedule presents opportunities and challenges for us to continue to learn and grow as we pursue a Sun Belt championship."

The Eagles' season opener will be at home on Aug. 26 (6 p.m.) against Stetson as a part of  the annual Bash in the Boro tournament (Aug. 26-27) before Georgia Southern travels to UNC Greensboro for three matches the following weekend. The Eagles will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to play Florida, VCU and Florida Gulf Coast Sept. 9-10 and return home to host the GATA Challenge Sept. 16-17.

The Sun Belt schedule features Friday and Saturday matches against the same opponent as the league adds four new members. Georgia Southern opens conference play at Arkansas State Sept. 23-24, before hosting Sun Belt newcomer Old Dominion Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

After four straight matches on the road, the Eagles host in-state rival Georgia State Oct. 21-22, followed by Sun Belt newcomer James Madison Oct. 28-29. The Eagles' final home weekend is against Troy Nov. 11-12, and Georgia Southern travels to the Sun Belt Tournament Nov. 16-20 at the Foley Sports Complex in Foley, Alabama.

Georgia Southern finished the 2021 campaign with a 17-11 record, the most wins for the program since the 2013 season, and their nine Sun Belt victories were the most since joining the league in 2014.

GS returns 15 letterwinners and welcomes newcomers Kirsten Barrett, Cason Callaway, Emily Jarome, Maggie Sale and Grace Underwood to the 2022 roster.
