Georgia Southern wins nine events in its home meet.

STATESBORO – The Georgia Southern women's track and field team won nine events and compiled 158 points to win the GATA Classic on a cold, windy day at Eagle Field Saturday.
Shania Parkinson won the hammer throw (43.21m) and the shot put (12.58m) and finished fourth in the discus (31.03m). Scovia Ayikoru won the 100 (12.20) and 200 (25.30), and MaKenna Hillmer won the 400 hurdles (1:07.61).
The Eagles took the top-two spots in the 1500 with Hannah Wise winning the event (4:44.22), and Nichole Harris taking second (4:44.97) as both times made the program's top-10 list. Imani Moore won the long jump (5.46m), finished second in the triple jump (11.53m) and took third in the 200 (26.69).
Mya Turner added second-place finishes in the 200 (26.02) and 400 (58.55), while Isabel Ptacek placed second in the 800 (2:27.93). The Eagles' 4x400 relay squad of Wise, Ptacek, Catherine Hall and Katie Ranck placed first (4:22.95), and Kellyn Posey won the pole vault (2.85m). Sam Holbrook finished second in the hammer throw (41.75m).
