STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football team hits the road again for Sun Belt Conference play on Thursday, traveling to Lafayette for a battle with Louisiana at Cajun Field. Kickoff is set for 7:33 p.m. (ET)/6:33 p.m. (local), and the game will will be broadcast on ESPNU. The game will also be available via radio on the Georgia Southern Sports Network. • Louisiana leads the series with Georgia Southern 4-1 after the Ragin' Cajuns downed the Eagles 28-20 last season in Statesboro. UL has won the past three contests in the series. The Eagles' only win over Louisiana came in 2017, a 10-point win in Lafayette.
• This will be just the second Thursday night football game Clay Helton has coached as a head coach. His only other Thursday game came on Oct. 27, 2016, a 45-24 win over California at home.
• Georgia Southern is 10-6 all-time in games played on Thursdays, 5-2 at home and 5-4 on the road. They lost last year on the road at South Alabama.
• Georgia Southern is 7-5 all-time on short rest (less than seven days). The Eagles played last night Saturday at home against South Alabama. As a head coach Clay Helton's teams are 4-3 on short rest.

8: This will be the eighth time head coach Clay Helton has had less than a week to prepare for a game as head coach. He is 4-3 in his previous seven instances when he was the head coach at USC. 

7: Georgia Southern has won seven of 12 games all-time on short rest (less than seven days) after falling at South Alabama last year on a Thursday night in Mobile.

6: This will be the sixth game in the series between Georgia Southern and Louisiana with the Ragin' Cajuns leads the series 4-1 after downing the Eagles 28-20 last season in Statesboro.

5: The 38-31 loss to South Alabama last week marked just the fifth time a Clay Helton-coached team lost a game they led at the half (GS led 24-17). Helton is now 40-5 when holding the lead at the break.

4: Senior receiver Khaleb Hood needs four receptions to break the school record for career catches. Hood enters Thursday's games with 124 catches, trailing on Raja Andrews, who had 127 catches from 2005-08.
