NCAA SCORECARD

CHARLESTON, S.C. - The 18th-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team overcame a 21-point deficit after smallbore to roar back and post a 4,591 aggregate Saturday at the Inouye Marksmanship Center as the Eagles took a pair of matches. Georgia Southern rallied to beat No. 19 The Citadel on the last shot of the match by nine points, and rolled past The Citadel women.

In smallbore, the Eagles posted a 2,263, led by Erin Ballard's career-best 577. That mark is tied for the fourth-best in program history and she tied the school record with a 197 in kneeling. Bella Gamez tied her career best with a 198 in prone en route to a 569, which was tied for fourth. Amy Visconti shot a 193 in standing, tied for the second-best score in program history, and placed seventh with a 562. Ashley Judson finished eighth with a 555.

Trailing by 21, the Eagles turned up the heat in air rifle as Judson led the way with a 591, her fifth score of 590+ this season. Visconti shot a career-high 587 to take second place. Ballard tied her career high with a 585 to take fourth and sealed the match with a 10 on the final shot to secure the win. Anna Mayo, in her second action of the year, posted a 565 to place eighth. The Eagles outscored The Citadel 2,328-2,298 in air rifle to make up the difference.

The Eagles were led in the aggregate by Ballard, who bested her career high with a 1,162 to tie for the gold medal with The Citadel's James Hart IV. Visconti tied for third with a 1,149  and Judson's 1,146 placed her sixth.
