Team White Downs Team Blue in Spring Game

Eagles now turn attention to regular season
STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football team wrapped up its spring football session Friday night with the Blue-White Spring Game, presented by Southern Exchange and Georgia National Guard, with Team White downing Team Blue 11-9 in front of a crowd of approximately 1,900.
Alex Raynor opened the scoring for Team Blue hitting a 23-yard field goal before Team White responded with nine points to take the lead. Justin Tomlin connected with Darius Lewis on a 19-yard pass and then Tyler Bride's interception gave the squad two more points to end the first half.
Darrell Baker Jr. picked off a pass in the fourth quarter to complete the scoring in regulation.
The first Koo/Bass Pressure Kick-Off gave Alex Raynor a chance to win it for Team Blue. He made the first two kicks from 30 and 40 yards, respectively, but his 48 yarder to give Blue the lead hit off the crossbar, giving Team White the win.
Tomlin completed 7 of 16 passes for 62 yards and a touchdown. Lewis had 41 yards rushing and 19 yards receiving. Tre Allen led the defense with seven tackles, including 2.0 for loss and a sack. Jalen White led Team Blue with seven carries for 49 yards.
The Eagles will open the 2021 season, presented by Morris Bank, on Saturday, Sept. 4 at home against Gardner-Webb at 6 p.m.
