Team returns home for NCAA Qualifier next Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Georgia Southern rifle team wrapped up its two-match weekend at No. 14 Morehead State Saturday at the Button Rifle Range in by posting a 4,551 aggregate, 33 points more than Friday's effort.

In smallbore, the team posted a 2,245. Erin Ballard posted a career-high 563 while Bella Gamez shot a 558 and Gabby Morrow shot a career-high 557. Lillian Herring posted a 554 and freshman Amy Visconti shot a 549 to round out the scoring.

Ballard set a personal best with a 196 in prone with a personal-best 99 in the first set of shots. Herring tied her season-high that she set on Friday with another 181 in standing. Judson tied her career high with a 197 in prone and Visconti tied her high in prone with 193. Morrow tied her season high in kneeling with a 187, a mark she set on Friday. Visconti shot a 97 in prone, tying her season high.

In air rifle, Judson led the way with a 587 as the team posted a 2,306. Judson posted a 100 in her final frame, her second in as many days, to tie for second. Ballard shot a career-best 577 to help pace the squad. Herring posted a career-best 574 and Morrow shot a 568. Gamez shot a 557 and Amy Visconti overcame a target malfunction to persevere for a 548.

Judson led the way with a career-high aggregate of 1,163 to place second. Ballard blasted by her personal best by 15 points, posting a 1,140 and finished ninth. Herring bested her career high, which she set on Friday, by two points with a 1,128 to place 10th.

Judson's 1,163 tied for the third-best in the SoCon this season and is just the eighth time in program history an Eagle has gone over 1,160.
