Inside The Series
Overall: Twenty-first Meeting (Troy leads, 13-7) • 4-7 Home; 3-6 Away
Current Streak: GS, Won 1
Last Meeting: 2020, GS won 20-13 - Allen E. Paulson Stadium | Statesboro, Ga.
Of Note:
- • Georgia Southern and Troy have met 20 times on the gridiron with the Trojans holding a 13-7 lead in the series that dates back to 1934. Since restarting football in 1984 as an NCAA program, Georgia Southern leads the series 7-5 after last year's 20-13 GS win in Statesboro.
- • Outside linebackers coach Jeremy Rowell spent 15 seasons at Troy, including the final six as the defensive coordinator. From 2006-2010, the Trojans won the Sun Belt title outright or shared the title each of those five seasons. Rowell also led Troy to a 19-3 regular season record as a starting quarterback in 1994 and 1995.
- • Troy AD Brent Jones spent five years at GS, first as the Director of Sports Marketing and then as the Assistant AD of Eagle Sports Marketing.
- • Southern returns to the state of Alabama for a game in just five days when the Eagles play at South Alabama on Thursday.
Countdown to Kickoff
- 10: Senior Logan Wright ran for a career-high 214 yards and two TDs on just 10 carries against Arkansas State.
- 9: Georgia Southern has had nine different players rush for 100 or more yards in a game 32 separate times since the start of the 2018 season.
- 8: The Eagles had a 200-yard rusher and a 150-yard rusher for the eighth time in program history last week.
- 7: Georgia Southern has won seven of the 12 games played between the two schools since the Eagles resumed football in the 1980s.
- 6: Eagles' outside linebackers coach Jeremy Rowell was the defensive coordinator at Troy for six seasons and as a quarterback, lost just three games as Troy's starting quarterback in 1994 and 1995.

- 3: Three players - Tyrell Davis, Eldrick Robinson II and NaJee Thompson - all recorded their first career interception last week.
- 2: Including this season, in two of the past three trips to Troy, Georgia Southern will play with an interim head coach. In 2017, it was Chad Lunsford and this year it will be Kevin Whitley.
- 1: The Eagles scored for the first time in the third quarter last week when they took the opening drive down for a touchdown. Entering the game, they had been outscored 55-0 in the third quarter.
