MOREHEAD, Ky. - The 20th-ranked Georgia Southern rifle team wrapped up a successful opening weekend at Morehead State on Saturday, posting a 4,580.

After an opening day featuring several team and individual records, the Eagles went above an beyond on day two, posting more career bests. In air rifle, Ashley Judson (593), Bella Gamez (585) and Kinsley Hannon (585) posted career highs while Lillian Herring (560) and Amy Visconti (563) posted their best in smallbore.

For Judson, the 593 is tied for the eighth-best score in program history and she becomes the first Eagle shooter not named Rosemary Kramer to crack the top-10 list in the discipline.

Gamez posted a career-best 1,150 in aggregate, as did Hannon with a 1,146.

The 2,260 team smallbore was the fifth-best score in program history. The aggregate score was the fourth-highest score in program history.

Words From Coach Worman: "Today was an amazing day to develop the tools and grit that we'll need  in the coming year. We purposefully took on a much more experienced team because we wanted that exposure to excellence. We used this weekend to that end. An unexpected bonus was that we did very well at responding and adapting to some unexpected curveballs and adversity. One of my favorite quotes is 'We compete to prove that we are the best that we can be…to ourselves.'  The team really had their mettle tested today and they mined the experience for all its worth. Nice job, Eagles!"
