Two teams compete again on Saturday

MOREHEAD, Ky. - Behind four career-best individual aggregate totals and two team school records, the Georgia Southern rifle team opened up its 2021-22 season Friday at the Button Rifle Range in impressive fashion against 16th-ranked Morehead State. The 20th-ranked Eagles posted a school-record team aggregate of 4,603. Their 2,335 team air rifle was also a school record and the 2,268 in smallbore was the second-highest in program history.
In smallbore, junior Ashley Judson led the way with a 573. Sophomore Bella Gamez shot a 567, followed by sophomore Brianne Staton (565), sophomore Kinsley Hannon (563), sophomore Amy Visconti (career-best tying 561) and junior Lillian Herring (550).
Gamez set a new personal best in the 20-shot kneeling with a 194 (third best in program history) and Herring set a new career high with a 192 (T-9th best in program history) in 20-shot kneeling. Hannon and Visconti both posted a career-best 193 in 20-shot kneeling (T-4th best in program history). Vicsonti also shot a personal-best 194 in the 20-shot prone.
Judson led the way in air rifle, tying her career high with a 592. That score is the 11th-best in program history. Staton (584), Hannon (582) and sophomore Amy Visconti (577) all set career highs and were joined by Gamez (567) and Herring (567).
Judson led the way with a career-high 1,165 (tied-fifth highest in program history)aggregate to place fifth. Staton placed ninth with a 1,149. Hannon posted a career-best 1,145, Visconti posted a career-best 1,138 and Gamez posted a career-high 1,134. Herring rounded out the impressive day with a 1,117.
