Ike Smith Named NABC All-District

Smith earns the honor for the second time.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Georgia Southern guard Ike Smith has been named second-team All-District, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced today.

It's the second time Smith has been named all-district as the redshirt senior earned first-team honors in the 2016-17 season.

Smith was named third-team All-Sun Belt, earning all-conference honors for the second time in his career (first team in 2017). Smith ranked 10th in the Sun Belt in scoring (14.1 ppg) and 18th in rebounding (5.5/gm). He scored in double figures in 24 games and scored 20-plus points seven times. Smith ranks second on the Georgia Southern Division I scoring list (1,931 points) and 16th on the Sun Belt career scoring list and he ranks 10th at GS in rebounds (668). He was named Sun Belt Player of the Week Dec. 30.

Georgia Southern tied for fourth in the Sun Belt standings and has finished in the top-5 in each of its six seasons in the league. The Eagles are one of just two teams in the Sun Belt to reach double-digit conference wins in each of the last six seasons (UTA) and are one of just 26 teams in the country that have won 10-plus league games during that time frame.

GS tallied 20-plus wins for the third straight season, a feat not accomplished since 1986-89, and the Eagles advanced to their conference tournament semifinal round for the third straight season, the first time that has happened in program history.
