
Johnson III Named All-American by Pro Football Focus

Senior named to outlet’s second team
STATESBORO - Georgia Southern senior defensive end Raymond Johnson III has been named a second-team All-American by Pro Football Focus, a site dedicated solely to the analysis of every player and every play of every game to deliver player grades, stats, and rankings for the NFL, fantasy football, and NFL Draft.
Johnson III becomes the fourth All-American in the FBS era for the Eagles, joining Younghoe Koo who was a third-team All-American by Phil Steele in 2016, Kindle Vildor, a second-team All-American by PFF in 2018 and Tyler Bass, a second-team All-American by Chris Sailer Kicking in 2018.
PFF is one of the 13 outlets or sites used to determine the College Football All-America Team.
Johnson III had a nation-best 91.6 overall grade, including an 89.6 grade against the run. A two-time first-team All-Sun Belt selection, the Sumter, South Carolina, native is fifth on the team in tackles with 37. Included in that tally are 14.5 tackles for loss and five sacks. He has a school-record 13 quarterback hurries and also has a pass break up, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.
The Eagles are preparing for the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl against Louisiana Tech, which will be played on Wednesday at 3 p.m. (ET) and will be shown on ESPN.
