Georgia Southern travels to Clemson to face the Citadel and Clemson next week
CORAL GABLES, Florida – The Georgia Southern men's tennis team suffered a 5-0 loss at the hands of Miami Sunday night to end its south Florida weekend trip.
The GS Eagles (1-3) pulled out a doubles win early by Murphy McCullough and Santiago Suarez over No. 9 Franco Aubone and Benjamin Hannestad 6-3 but the Eagles lost the team point. The Hurricanes (3-0) went on to win five singles contests before the match was called.
What head coach Sander Koning said:
"I am proud of the fight the guys showed tonight. We had to deal with some adversity off the court, but the guys battled hard. Murphy and Santi beat the No. 9 doubles team in the country. Jonathan and Pascal were close as well."
"We have to stay more poised in critical moments. Miami did a good job of that and it's a reason why they have been so good in recent years."
