STATESBORO - Two former Georgia Southern University football players have earned spots on opening day rosters of The Alliance of American Football league, as it kicks off its inaugural season in February. All eight teams were required to reduce set their final 52-player roster for the season by Wednesday.

Kicker Younghoe Koo and receiver Montay Crockett both made the Atlanta Legends roster and will play for Kevin Coyle's squad.

Crockett, who will wear No. 13, had 24 catches for 339 yards and a touchdown as a senior at GS. The Rock Hill, South Carolina, native participated in NFL training camps with Green Bay and Jacksonville and was on the active roster for the Jaguars late in the 2018 season, but didn't appear in any regular season games. The speedster caught 32 passes for 535 yards and three scores for his college career and also averaged 21.3 yards per kickoff return and 10.4 yards per punt return.

Koo, who will wear No. 7, was a finalist for the Lou Groza Award in 2016 and won the starting kicking job for the Los Angeles Chargers in 2017. The Ridgewood, New Jersey, native kicked in four games before being released from the squad. He was successful on over 86 percent of his field goal attempts in his GS career and was a third-team All-American his senior season.

Led by some of the most respected football minds in the game, The Alliance of American Football is top-flight professional football. Founded by TV and film producer Charlie Ebersol and Hall of Famer Bill Polian, The Alliance features eight teams with 52-player rosters playing a 10-week regular season schedule beginning Feb. 9, on CBS and the NFL Network, followed by two playoff rounds and culminating with the championship game at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas on April 27, 2019.
