Defense Leads Men’s Basketball in 74-58 Win

The Eagles travel to Georgia State next Saturday.

STATESBORO – Montae Glenn tallied his 13th career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Georgia Southern forced 18 Texas State turnovers to post a 74-58 Sun Belt men's basketball win over the Bobcats Saturday evening in Hanner Fieldhouse.

Eagles of the Game
Glenn made all six of his field goal attempts and his lone free throw in the contest. Tookie Brown led the Eagles with 17 points to go along with four assists and three steals, and Elijah McCadden chipped in career highs of 15 points and eight rebounds.

Key moments
Glenn's conventional 3-point play sparked an 11-3 Georgia Southern (13-8, 5-3) run early in the second half that put the Eagles ahead 44-33. With the Eagles leading by 10 midway through the frame, GS scored 10 straight points, and a Simeon Carter jumper made the margin 69-49 with 4:33 remaining. Tre Nottingham led Texas State (17-4, 6-2) with 25 points in the game.

Inside the Numbers
The Eagles tallied 10 steals and held Texas State to 40 percent shooting in the contest. GS outscored the Bobcats 21-5 at the charity stripe and made 21 of 25 from the foul line.

Next up
The Eagles play at Georgia State Saturday in a 1 p.m. tipoff on ESPN+. GS has not won at the GSU Sports Arena since 1992, a span of eight games. A point will be on the line in the Southern vs. State Rivalry Series, which is currently tied 4-4.
