Players Returning
New Mexico State had a dream finish to the 2017 season, but will lose a ton of talent including Larry Rose III, who capped off his senior season second in the conference with nine rushing touchdowns and 807 rushing yards to finish in fifth in the league. He was a main cog in New Mexico State's late run to bowl eligibility for the first time in 57 years. Eleven Aggies were named All-Sun Belt in the team's final season in the league but will have to replace quarterback Tyler Rogers, linebacker Dalton Herrington and receiver Jaleel Scott, among others as the Aggies begin life as an FBS Independent school.
Series History
Georgia Southern fell to the Aggies last season in Paulson Stadium, 35-27, but the Blue and White still holds its a 3-1 lead in the series over New Mexico State, having won all three prior victories from 2014-16. This will be the first of to non-conferenece meetings between the two as NMSU will return the trip to Statesboro in 2019.
