Georgia Southern Unveils Military Appreciation Helmets

School will also honor Adrian Peterson for upcoming CFB Hall of Fame induction

STATESBORO - The Georgia Southern football team unveiled its helmets Tuesday for its upcoming Military Appreciation Game against New Hampshire this Saturday at Paulson Stadium.

The Eagles will don gray matte helmets with a tapered red, white and blue flag stripe going down the middle. The front bumper will feature a sticker with the words "USA" surrounded by the American flag.

The team will wear its normal blue jersey and white pants combination.

It's Military Appreciation Day, which is held each year at a Georgia Southern football game in honor of the men and women who have served and currently served in our nation's armed forces.

Any active and veteran military personnel get a free ticket with a valid military ID and can purchase discounted tickets for family members at $17/ticket in sections OO & PP or $20/ticket in sections JJ-KK, MM-NN and B or F.

Military tickets as well as any additional discounted tickets can purchased on game day only at the ticket booth by gates 7 and 8 as well as the main Cowart Building Ticket Office windows located near Gate 5 starting three hours prior to kick-off.

The Georgia National Guard and GS Army ROTC Eagle Battalion will have a Fun Zone set up by Gates 8 and 12.

Fans will also be treated to a special halftime performance from the Southern Pride Marching Band honoring all military personnel and the swearing in of future service men and women.

In addition, each GS player will have a No. 3 on both sides of his respective helmet in honor of Adrian Peterson's upcoming induction into the College Football Hall of Fame. Peterson, who holds over 30 school or playoff records, will be recognized on the field at the end of the first quarter by the National Football Foundation.

Game time is 6 p.m. and tickets can be purchased online at GSEagles.com/Tickets or by calling 1-800-GSU-WINS. Additionally, fans are encouraged to bring relief supplies for the Hurricane Harvey collection. Vans will be driving around the tailgate areas to pick up these items for donation, which will be sent to Texas to help aid those who were affected by the storm.
