TICKETS
The Series
• Georgia Southern and New Hampshire have met just one previous time on the gridiron with the Wildcats leading the series 1-0. New Hampshire won 27-23 in Paulson Stadium in the first round of the 2004 NCAA I-AA Playoffs.
Home Openers
• Overall, the Eagles are 27-6-1 in home openers with a 27-5 mark at Paulson Stadium since its first game on Sept. 29, 1984 against Liberty. The 2013 home opener, a 77-9 win over Savannah State, was vacated due to NCAA sanctions.
Against the CAA
• The Eagles have fared pretty well against the Colonial Athletic Association, posting a 25-9 records against teams currently in the conference.
Honoring AP
• Former Georgia Southern star running back Adrian Peterson will be honored Saturday at the end of the first quarter for his election to the College Football Hall of Fame Class of 2017.
• Peterson's No. 3 jersey is retired at Georgia Southern and he still stands as the NCAA's Division I all-time leading rusher with 6,559 yards in regular-season contests. He is already a member of GS's Athletics Hall of Fame and was a four-time All-American for the Eagles.
• The Alachua, Florida, native was the first sophomore to win the Walter Payton Award, given to the top player in the FCS. He rushed for 100 or more yards in 48 consecutive games and at the time of graduation, held 30 school and playoff records. He was a sixth-round draft choice of the Chicago Bears in 2002 and was a Super Bowl XLI participant.
• Peterson will join fellow Georgia Southern star Tracy Ham as the only two Eagles enshrined in Atlanta. They are also the only two Georgia Southern football players to have their jersey numbers retired.
• Every Georgia Southern player will sport a No. 3 on both sides of their helmet Saturday night in recognition of the honor. This recognition will be part of the Military Appreciation helmets GS will wear Saturday.
Giving Aid Through Athletics (GATA)
• Georgia Southern and the Athletics Department will be collecting donations at upcoming home sporting events to help with the relief efforts stemming from Hurricane Harvey.
• GS Athletics will be asking patrons to join this effort during football, men's soccer and women's soccer home games until Oct. 4 by bringing items to those events and donating them to the cause. The items collected will be shipped off on Oct. 5 in Georgia Southern's 18-wheeler used for football.
Military Appreciation
• Saturday's game will be Military Appreciation in recognition of all the hard work and sacrifices put in by out men and women in uniform.
• The Georgia Southern ROTC Eagle Battalion will hold a Career Fair and university tour for local JROTC cadets and the Eagle Battalion had a tailgate at the RAC pavilion.
• A fun zone will be outside gates 8 and 12 of Paulson Stadium on patrons' ways in, including military vehicles and an adventure trailer.
• At halftime, there will be a swearing-in ceremony of future soldiers,recognition of all military personnel, past and present, and a special halftime performance from the Southern Pride Marching Band.
