A three-year All-State selection at Cairo High School, Aldair Cortes made the move to Atlanta United for the 2016-17 season. A midfielder at Cairo High School, Cortes is the starting left back for Atlanta United, playing in the US Soccer Development Academy program. He scored 108 goals in his three years at Cairo High School, adding 59 assists. He was also selected as Regional Player of the Year three times.

Coach Murphy on Cortes
"Aldair is one of the top players to come out of Georgia in the 2017 recruiting class so we are very pleased to welcome him to Statesboro. He is a wide player who versatility will allow him to feature in the midfield or fullback as an Eagle.  His time at Atlanta United has certainly accelerated his development and prepared him well for the next level. Aldair's pace and technique compliment his direct playing style so we expect him to make an impact as a freshman."

Alhaji Tambadu is set to join the Eagles after playing the 2016-17 academy season with Atlanta United. A native of Sierra Leone, Tambadu is set to graduate from Clarkston High School this spring. He enters the final portion of the developmental academy season with a spot in the starting XI each week in the midfield for Atlanta United.

Coach Murphy on Tambadu
"Alhaji is a physical, aggressive player who possesses a maturity that is unique for such a young player.  He is a true warrior who will add some 'steel' in our midfield and help us blunt opposition's attacks. Alhaji is another player from the Atlanta United Academy system so he is someone who has excelled at one of the top youth programs in the US. We see him making a difference right away as his skill set and strong mentality will allow him to adapt to college game quickly."
