Men's Tennis hosts Alabama State and South Carolina State on Saturday
STATESBORO, Ga. – During this past weekend, the Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team traveled to Florida to conclude its road trip. The team had three matches and finished the weekend 1-2. The road trip included matches against No. 11 Florida, Florida State and Florida A&M. The team will now return home to the friendly confines of The Wallis Tennis Center to compete in a doubleheader against Alabama State and South Carolina State.
"Overall this weekend we learned a lot about high-ranked teams and what they do," said head coach Sander Koning. "We will use that knowledge to our advantage and execute it in our upcoming matches."
NO. 11 FLORIDA – Saturday afternoon the Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team took on the 11th-ranked Florida Gators in Gainesville, Florida. The Gators took a 1-0 lead after their No. 3 ranked doubles team of Ingildsen/Perez defeated Amari/Finkelstein 6-0. The Gators entered the day with four players in the Top 100, as well as the No. 3 Doubles team and No. 11-ranked team in the nation.
"We played against a tough Florida team," said Koning. "They were very competitive on all courts. We will regroup and learn from this experience. They have given us plenty of things we need to work on to get better. The good thing is seeing a team like this early in the semester, it allows us to use the next three months to get better."

Trailing 1-0 heading into singles play, the Eagles were able to fight hard and get the necessary points to win the match.
"Against Florida A&M we started the match very tentative," added Koning. "Artemie and Diego took care of business, but the others couldn't feed off of their momentum. In singles, the guys fought hard and we were able to get the win."
