1) It's Military and Law Enforcement Appreciation Day: Military Appreciation Day is held each year at a Georgia Southern Football game in honor of the men and women who have served and currently serve in our nation's armed forces. Major General Leslie Smith, the highest ranking active duty Georgia Southern alum.
This year, we also show our appreciation for our local law enforcement agencies at the game. Each local agency will be recognized for their service at the game.
• Ticket Special – Any active and veteran military personnel get in free with ID. Any law enforcement official will get in free with ID.
• Family members of either group get in with $17 discount admission
• They can purchase these tickets on game day only at the ticket booth by gate 7 and 8 or in the Cowart Building off Lanier Drive. Ticket booths will open at 3 p.m. on Sept. 3.
• Don't miss out on a special halftime performance from the Southern Pride Marching Band honoring all military personnel.
2) Programs: This year, the FLIGHT game programs will be given away at no cost! Be sure to pick up this commemorative souvenir in both book stores, the two information tents and by students walking the around stadium.Â
3) LOUD NOISES: Fans should be aware that fireworks are used during the game. Fireworks produce loud concussion booms and flashes of light. Fans should be cautious during the game of the fireworks and loud booms. Please bring earmuffs for younger patrons if you feel they need them.
4) New Student Entrance: Student gates for football games are now 1, 2 and 15. Gate 15 is new and is located off Malecki Drive. Gate 13 is no longer a student entrance.Â
5) Handicap Parking: The handicap parking lot by the Cowart Ticket Building is for handicap Eagle Fund members who have paid for a spot in that lot. These are the only handicap parking spots in the assigned areas around Paulson Stadium. Others who need handicap parking may park in handicap spots around campus with their valid handicap hangtag or credentials in plain view. All shuttle buses are handicap accessible and are free to ride. Buses begin transportation 2 1/2 hour befor kickoff and go an hour after the game ends.Â
6) Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.: The Eagle Walk is at 4:15 p.m. and gates open 90 minutes before kickoff. Get there early to see Freedom's Flight, the team take the field and the opening kickoff. YOU can make Paulson Stadium an intimidating environment for Savannah State, so get there early and BE LOUD!! The ticket office can sell tickets online and at the bookstore the day of the game, so it's never too late to get a ticket and come out!
