
CFPA Names Breida to National Performer of the Year Watch List

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) named Georgia Southern running back Matt Breida to its 2015 National Performer of the Year Watch List today.
The junior is one of 32 student-athletes on the list, and the award winner will be announced Jan. 13, 2016.
A 2015 Doak Walker Award and Maxwell Award candidate, Breida led both the nation and Sun Belt in rushing yards per carry at 8.7 and ranked at the top of the Sun Belt rushing chart at 123.8 yards per game in 2014. He had more rushing touchdowns of 50-yards or more than anyone in the nation (7) and had the second-highest rushing touchdowns in the league with 17. He finished with 1,485 yards en route to earning first-team All-Sun Belt accolades.
Georgia Southern won the 2014 Sun Belt title in its first season in the league, finishing 8-0 in the conference and 9-3 overall. The Eagles return 58 lettermen and 13 starters to the 2015 squad, were picked to win the Sun Belt in the league's preseason coaches' poll and are receiving votes in the USA Today Amway Top-25 Coaches Poll.
