Georgia Southern Football Honored by Statesboro Magazine

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern football team and Head Coach Willie Fritz were honored by Statesboro Magazine in their 1st Annual Fabulist Awards. The awards were chosen by readers of the magazine.
Georgia Southern football was named Statesboro's Most Fabulous Local Sporting Event, and the Eagles winning the 2014 Sun Belt Conference Championship was named Statesboro's Biggest News Story of 2014.
Coach Fritz was named Statesboro's Most Fabulous Man of 2014 after leading the Eagles to a conference championship in his first season at the helm and being named Sun Belt Coach of the Year.
The award winners will be honored at the Averitt Center Gallery on March 5.
The Eagles posted a perfect 8-0 record in the league play a year ago and finished their first season in the FBS and Sun Belt Conference with an overall record of 9-3.
GS will be bowl eligible in 2015 and will host six games at Allen E. Paulson Stadium. The Eagles will face two power five conference teams, four teams that played in bowl games and will appear on two ESPNU Thursday night broadcasts.
