AIA Raises Money For Mission Trip Through Paintball Bash

Group to send members to Nicaragua this spring
STATESBORO, Ga. - Athletes in Action hosted a Halloween Paintball Bash, hosted by Statesboro Paintball, on Oct. 26 for Georgia Southern student-athletes, coaches, support staff and community members. The purpose was twofold. First, it was to create community among student-athletes and share how Athletes In Action can serve their spiritual needs during college. The mental and physical abilities are being developed all the time for students by classes and their sport. One area that goes unnoticed is the spiritual development and that's where AIA comes in. Everything offered is volunteered-based. Athletes in Action is the sports ministry for Campus Crusade for Christ know as Cru.
The second reason it was held was to serve as a fund raiser for "Eagles In Nicaragua." During Spring Break 2016, around 15 coaches and student-athletes will serve with Filter of Hope, which is an organization that provides clean drink water through filters to poverty stricken communities.
The night was considered a huge success as the group raised over $4,000 to go toward the trip.
The GS baseball team's "Superman" won the 10-man team tournament, one that featured over 100 student-athletes participate. AIA staff members are: Matt Wise, campus director; Manrey Saint-Amour, AIA Intern; and Maria Lindsey, Cru Intern.
