STATESBORO, Ga. - Once again, the Georgia Southern football team will spice up its uniform for a big game, this time donning white helmets for the first time in program history as the Eagles host New Mexico State this Saturday.The Eagles will wear white helmets with a blue stripe down the middle and blue numbers on one side, with the GS logo made famous by country music superstar Cole Swindell on the other side. The players will still wear blue jerseys and white pants for the game.
This will be the fourth straight year in which Georgia Southern is wearing an alternate uniform and the Eagles are 3-0 in previous games with a camouflage jersey for Military Appreciation Day in 2012, a throwback Georgia Teacher's College uniform for Homecoming in 2013 and the "Traditions" alternate uniforms last year featuring an adidas lead-colored jersey textured across the shoulders and chest, with white numerals outlined in dark blue, paired with gray pants and gray socks.
The Georgia Southern Bookstore will be selling the Homecoming white hats that the football coaching staff will be wearing on Saturday.
Game time for the Homecoming contest with New Mexico State will kick at 6 p.m. A few tickets still remain as the program tries to break the Paulson Stadium attendance record by packing more than 26,000 fans into the stadium. Tickets can be purchased by going to GSEagles.com/Tickets.
