
New "We Are Champions" Exhibit Open at Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in Macon

Eagle Football program featured for its unprecedented six national titles
MACON, GA – Two new exhibits are now on display at the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame.
"We are the Champions: Georgia's College Football National Championship Teams"
highlights Georgia college teams that have been deemed the best in the country by the
NCAA. Also on display are college football themed paintings by nationally recognized
artist Richard Russell.
"We are the Champions" features six Georgia colleges that have won National
Championships in their respective divisions. These schools include Georgia Military
College, Georgia Southern University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, University of
West Georgia, and Valdosta State University. Among the items on display are the 1917
National Championship Trophy captured by Georgia Tech, a 1943 Rose Bowl program
from the University of Georgia, and a 1985 National Championship ring from Georgia
Southern.
The exhibit also highlights Georgia Sports Hall of Fame inductees John Heisman, William
Alexander, Wally Butts, and Vince Dooley who coached their respective teams to
National Championships. We Are The Champions will remain on display through
December.
In time for the kick-off of the college football season, The Georgia Sports Hall of Fame
unveiled a new art exhibit featuring Birmingham, Alabama artist, Richard Russell. The
exhibit will be on display through February. Russell's art has been displayed in the
Professional Football Hall of Fame and the College Football Hall of Fame as well as in
many other exhibits and museums. Russell's art focuses mostly on college football in the
southeast featuring colleges such as Georgia Tech, University of Georgia, Florida State
University, and Auburn University.
