STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern-Georgia State rivalry will be taken to a new level this year as the schools come together on the football field in Sun Belt Conference play, and bragging rights for both sides will be on display even earlier.
On Monday, Oct. 20, at the start of game week for the Eagles-Panthers matchup, fans of both schools are invited to face off in the Georgia State vs. Georgia Southern Golf Challenge. The event will be held at Druid Hills Golf Club in Atlanta and is expected to be a yearly event with proceeds benefiting the more than 700 student-athletes at Georgia State and Georgia Southern.
This year's golf challenge will be run by Georgia State's Panther Athletic Club (PAC), which will offer a silent auction and reception following the event, and a dinner that night at Druid Hills Golf Club. Fans can play as an individual for $300, while hole sponsors are $325 each. Foursomes are $1,200. Panther and Eagle fans can also come just for the dinner without golfing for $50.
The event will rotate to the course of choice for the home team in that year's football game. Dates for future Sun Belt football schedules are typically released in March.
Fans interested in playing should complete the attached form and return it to guarantee a spot in the field and a chance for bragging rights on the course.
