#PackPaulson is the goal as students, fans and alumni are key to home field advantage
STATESBORO, Ga. – The beginning of a new era for Georgia Southern begins with two spectacular events for the Eagles' home opener on Saturday, September 6th as Georgia Southern University will recognize its unprecedented six national championships prior to the game and the game ball will be delivered by parachute drop by the Golden Knights.
With the goal of packing Paulson, Georgia Southern Athletics has promotions planned for the historic home season opener and for every game of the season, including the two ESPNU nationally televised games on Thursday, Sept. 25th and Thursday, Oct. 30th.
Members of the inaugural 1982 Georgia Southern Football team and Eagles representing all six national championship teams be recognized and will take part in a special ceremony prior to the season opener September 6th. The ceremony will honor the six national championship teams and the flags, representing the most Division I-AA titles by any program, will be relocated to the top of the new Football Operations Center.
While the Eagles' Football championship teams will be honored, Georgia Southern will also hold the "Night of Champions" and the GATA Club reunion event on September 6th. "Getting Athletes Together Again," to reunite Eagle student-athletes, this evening also pairs recent Southern Conference championship teams from the 2013-14 season with a previous league champion.
Eight teams will be honored at this year's "Night of Champions" with each celebrating their championships: the 2013 and 2003 SoCon Volleyball teams; the 2014 and 2003 Men's Golf teams; the 2014 and 1999 Eagle Softball teams; and 2014 and 2000 Georgia Southern Baseball teams.

Homecoming arrives just in time as the Eagles return from their longest road trip of the year for Saturday, October 11th contest against Idaho. Georgia Southern students played a pivotal role in the Eagles' move to the FBS and Student Appreciation Night on Thursday, October 30th is just one way of honoring their commitment and support of their team. Great prizes, including flat-screen TVs, cash, gift cards and Georgia Southern gear, in addition to giveaways throughout the game will take place on a backdrop of the Eagles' second nationally televised game. The game on Halloween eve will feature a costume contest for students, children and adults.
Combining efforts with sorority Zeta Tau Alpha to help "Tackle a Cure," Georgia Southern Athletics will provide pink ribbons for all fans and offer pink items for sale with all proceeds donated for Breast Cancer research. Tables to help promote awareness and provide information will be located on each concourse.
The first season in the Sun Belt Conference and FBS concludes with the recognition of the Eagle Seniors and our devoted fans with Senior Night and Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, November 29th. Prior to the game, our seniors will be introduced with their families before taking the field for the final time in their collegiate careers.
The youngest fans are also part of the season finale with Youth Day, national "Take A Kid to the Game Day" and Cheerleader Clinic. During the Eagles' bye week November 17-21, fans can purchase one game ticket and get a second ticket at half price. Each individual may purchase a maximum total of 10 tickets.
