Paint the Town Blue Kicks Off in Statesboro

STATESBORO, Ga. - The week-long celebration leading up to Georgia Southern's first home football game, Paint the Town Blue, kicked off in Statesboro today.
Businesses around the Statesboro area started decorating their storefronts inside and out with Georgia Southern merchandise, balloons, helmets and logos in order to compete in the True Blue Spirit Competition.
"We have been getting a ton of orders for our Paint the Town Blue signs and people are getting excited and getting ready for our first home game," Director of Marketing Dan Adams said. "We have the best fans in the nation, and they get excited for all of our athletic programs."
Friday, Aug. 29 was the first day local businesses could start participating in the True Blue Spirit Business Competition. Winners of the competition will be announced on Saturday, Sept. 6.
Paint the Town Blue is a week-long set of events leading up to the first home football game on Sept. 6. It includes the True Blue Spirit Competition, the Inaugural Kickoff Balloon Launch, a block party on campus, a downtown tailgate and True Blue Eagle Eye Friday.
