Athlon Sports All-Sun Belt Conference Defense Includes Jackson

Atlanta native earns spot on preseason third team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Georgia Southern senior linebacker Edwin Jackson has been named to Athlon Sports' All-Sun Belt Conference third team defense, as announced by the national media company. From Atlanta, the former walk-on started all 11 games last year and finished as the Eagles' top tackler last year with 92 total. He had a game-high eight solo tackles in Georgia Southern's win over Florida at "The Swamp" and shared the game-high total with 10.
The Westlake High School graduate tried out for the Eagles and was invited to the preseason roster for the 2011 camp. Jackson has played in 36 of Georgia Southern's 39 games in the last three years and is the projected starting linebacker for his final season in 2014.
The Eagles kick off the 2014 campaign, their first in the Sun Belt and in the Football Bowl Subdivision, at N.C. State on August 30th and return to a newly expanded Paulson Stadium for the home opener on September 6th.
