STATESBORO, Ga. – Georgia Southern athletics gave fans a chance to preview seating in the north stands with new seating options in the shaded Club Level and views from the mid-deck at "Meet Your Seat" day in Paulson Stadium Saturday afternoon.
Representatives from the Athletics Ticket Office along with Georgia Southern cheerleaders assisted season ticket holders in finding and viewing their previously purchased season ticket locations or selecting seats for the exciting 2014 season.
About 500 fans were on hand to check out the views from the North stands, the new mid-deck and shaded club level. Two bounce houses were on hand for the kids, GUS and Freedom made appearances, and fans got an opportunity to get a good look at the new Video Board affixed to the Football Operations Center in the East end zone.
The 2014 schedule cards and schedule poster were distributed and information on the Junior Eagle Club and various youth sports camps were made available.
"We received a lot of positive feedback today. Everybody is excited about the new seating options," said Georgia Southern Athletics Ticket Manager John Ramfjord. "A lot of folks are excited about moving into the Sun Belt Conference, the journey that we're going through and having new opportunities to be a part of it."
Ramfjord said he hopes to hold some kind of fan-related event in Paulson each summer.
"It was a special deal this year with the stadium construction and new seat availability, but we want to have a similar event in which we invite the fans out during the summer every year," he said. "An annual Fan Fest type event is what we're building toward."
Georgia Southern opens its home campaign Saturday, Sept. 6, against Savannah State at 6 p.m. in the newly-expanded Paulson Stadium. Two home games have been tabbed for national television with conference games vs. Appalachian State (Sept. 25) and Troy (Oct. 30) showcasing Eagle Nation to millions of viewers on ESPNU for those Thursday night contests. Homecoming on Oct. 11 vs. Idaho and the season finale vs. ULM Nov. 29 are both set for 6 p.m. starts as the Eagles begin their first year in the FBS and Sun Belt Conference.
